The Pennsylvania home, which sits on 16 acres, is listed for $1.25 million.The Pennsylvania farm home featured in Marley & Me is on the market.
It sits on 16 acres and has four outbuildings, including a barn with six stalls. It's listed for $1.25 million.
It's owned by attorney John Ennis and fine-arts photographer Lisa Taylor Ennis, who are eager to downsize now that their three kids are grown up, according to the Daily Local newspaper.
“People still come by to take pictures,” John Ennis tells the newspaper. “A whole load of kids and parents will jump out of the car and snap photos in front of Marley’s house. People are polite and discreet; they don’t want to meet us. They just want to see Marley’s house.”
The couple painstakingly renovated the five bedroom, three-and-a-half bath home, which features a new Waterbury-designed kitchen, a new 50-year cedar shake roof, hardwood floors and a redone master bath with Carrara marble and a claw-foot soaking tub.
Most of the Ennises' Americana furniture, quilts and artwork (including Lisa's photography) remained in the house during the two months of filming, the newspaper reports. The Ennises' were moved into a local condo nearby for two months as stars Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson filmed the movie, based off John Grogan's memoir of his mischievous dog, Marley.
“They wanted a house that symbolized the Grogans’ rock-solid relationship,” John Ennis said of the location.
The real estate agent, Dick Gross, is including the house's movie connection in its marketing materials.
"Selling a house is like selling a piece of artwork. If the art or the house has good provenance — based on who owns or owned it, or what happened there — you do your client a disservice if you don’t take advantage of that,” he said.
